Employment Information: This is a full-time, 10-month bargaining unit position.
Summary:
This position will be traveling to different school sites in the Greater Philadelphia area, up to 60% travel. You are the advocate for our hard of hearing (D/HH) students. The Itinerant Teacher will help them succeed as independent learners, provide personalized support to D/HH students, and collaborate with our administrators, support staff, and parents to determine best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the educational needs of learners who are D/HH as well as gather data to determine learner needs, measure learner progress, guide instruction and intervention. Assessment of curriculum needs and teaching strategies
- Support with the use of amplification equipment (hearing aids, FM/sound field systems, cochlear implants, etc.)
- Contribute towards mandatory statutes including IEP's, Present Levels of Functional Performance, and Annual Reviews
- Knowledge of laws, codes and regulations as they relate to special education
- Collaborating with the students' audiologists regarding their hearing loss, hearing aids, and fm systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education
- Possess a valid State of Pennsylvania Hearing Impaired PK-12 teacher license
- American Sign Language Proficiency
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Education best practices
- 1-3 years experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf
- Willingness to travel to various school locations in the Philadelphia regional area
